HOW TO TAKE A PAPER RUBBINGCover the complete bass section with a sheet of stout paper. Holding the paper over the soundboard bridge pins, sandpaper till the pins cut through and are firmly held. Mark the tops of the hitch pins and agraffes or top bridge pins. Using heelball or dark wax crayon, firmly mark the position of the strings. There are many grand pianos where this is needed if there are no pins or agraffes. Any covered strings on the long bridge may be treated the same or sent on a wire in their correct order. Pattern strings are the first and last notes of each single, bichord and trichord section. These, or dimensions must be sent with each rubbing. We are able to supply certain sets for better known makes from our library of data. Please enquire with make & number of strings in each section.
